Monday Looking Forward Not Backward

A friend recently said to me “What a Monday this Wednesday has been!” and I had to fully agree. Sometimes with no advance warning, an orderly midweek task finds itself mired in a Monday morning style backlog overload from a post-revelry weekend. These days there is lots of discord and dissent in the air along with a mighty helping of distrust. There is no way to out-shout the noise.

Most of us have abandoned the “waiting for things to get back to normal” mode and recognize that these are the times we live in and they are what they are. Ever changing. Ever unpredictable with shockingly fast new obstacles to navigate around appearing almost daily. This is the new routine.

Monday Monday

A Monday has barely started when many of us find we have to pivot and sometimes, by day end, do so more than once.

In this situation, find a simple reminder of next steps. When I am faced with an insurmountable challenge, I look to My Three Words for guidance. Delight & Magical may have sounded like great methods but that year being “present” insured outcomes made the good results.

We see dramatic daily changes in areas of business impacted by AI. Your measure of calmness depends on keeping your eye on the big picture while completing daily tasks. Every task completed and each individual partner or customer you delight in the moment will make you feel good about your day.

Keep negative or bad breaking news and doom scrolling on social media. Use your time and skills to look ahead. What actions you can take immediately to build your community and reinforce the actions with good communications.

Those communications The promise and title of internet influencer is tricky to maintain but real person to person interactions made a huge difference. Being present comes down to showing up for others as well as for yourself. It requires building trusted communities that truly are there to support all the members. So, when a Wednesday turns into a disastrous Deja Vu Monday, you can call someone who has your back and who offers a helping hand, not just suggestions.

Count your daily wins.

They add up and provide positive reinforcement for the actions you continue to take. Follow the New Rules of human engagement and ignore the gatekeepers who troll us. Find new ways to allow you to continue to Appreciate, Anchor and Amplify The Possible.

In the end, despite all the new tools, your people to people direct connections will make the biggest difference. Keep those connections fresh and active. Share your daily wins and ask your clients, co-workers or employees about theirs.
